Literacy 

Draw simple story maps using language of first, next, finally to talk about the order of stories, add words to pictures that can be read back, hold a sentence in their heads and then write it, blend sounds in simple words to read

Phonics

Phase 3 phonics mastery and CEWs, Phase 4 phonics - blend phonemes to read CVC words and segment CVC words for spelling

Understanding The World 

To learn about different celebrations and compare it to our own celebrations.

Learn about minibeasts found in the local area and the life cycle of a frog

PSED

KAPOW - Self regulation - listening to instructions

Retell simple stories in the correct order. share thoughts and ideas with others using complete sentences, respond and listen to friends conversations, use and respond to questions starting with - who, what, why, how, where

Take turns and follow instructions in games e.g. What's the time Mr Wolf? Cut out spirals following the lines round. Hold pencil with a firm grip and begin to form letters shapes correctly. Play target games

PE Days

PE in Reception is  on a Thursday. Please make sure that your child wears their PE kit to school on these days.  Our PE kit is plain black shorts, leggings or joggers; plain white or school PE t-shirt; school jumper.

Homework

Phonics will be given out on a Friday. The children can practise writing and saying the taught sounds for that week.

When your child receives a reading book please support your child at home by reading 5 x a week for at least 10 minutes.

Useful Information

To ensure your child is ready to learn, please provide them with a labelled bottle of water everyday. A healthy snack of fruit or vegetables is provided by the school.
