Dragonfly class have been excited to see our frogspawn turn into tadpoles. They have been recording what they can see and observing them daily. The children have been writing some lovely instructions on how to look after tadpoles too!

Dragonfly class trip

Last week, Reception children went on their very first school trip. We had a fantastic autumnal day at Westonbirt Arboretum observing the changes to the trees using our senses. We also went on a Gruffalo hunt and were thrilled to see him and the other characters in the story that we are studying.

Flying start in Dragonfly class

Reception children have had a fantastic start to school life! They have settled in brilliantly to school routines and have been busy having fun with their learning. The children voted to change our class story from Owl Babies to Hedgehog Babies so we made hedgehogs out of salt dough and made hedgehog bread!   We hope you like the pictures.

Reception Phonics Meeting

We will be holding a Reception parents phonics meeting next Monday 26th September at 9am. This is a chance for us to talk to you about how we teach your children to read and write in school. It will be a really short session but invaluable in helping you to support your children at home with their reading. We will discuss how each of the sounds are taught and you can even have a go yourself!

We will also be talking about our new reading books and how reading books will work in Reception as well as handwriting.

We hope to see you all there!

Dragonflies visit Nigeria

The children loved learning all about Nigeria yesterday when cultural ambassadors visited us from the University of the West of England. We looked at traditional foods, customs and music. Take a look at some of the activities!P1030538 P1030539 P1030540 P1030541

Dragonflies On Board The Life Bus!

Reception had a great time on board the Life Education Bus this week. We talked about keeping healthy, keeping fit and eating healthy foods. We did a little dance to use some energy and checked what happened to our heart beat. We had fun meeting Harold The Giraffe too!

Children find a message in a bottle!

On a recent trip to forest school, the children discovered a message in a bottle. We excitedly read the message which wasP1030335 P1030336 from our baby dinosaurs. (We had dinosaur eggs sent to us from the Natural History museum that cracked a few weeks later!) The children excitedly wrote back to the dinosaurs asking them to come back and the children continue to write to them to tell them what we have been doing in class.
