Christmas play dates and costumes


Rehearsals for our Christmas play are well underway! The children are excited to perform to you on Monday 12th December at 2.30pm and at 9.00am on Tuesday 13th December.

Please can you make / get a suitable costume and bring it into school in a named carrier bag as soon as possible, at the latest by 5th December.

Pack lunch option

From the Monday 9th January there will be a sandwich bar option for school meals.  This will be set up in the dining hall and the children will be able to choose their roll filling, vegetable sticks, cake and fruit/yoghurt on the day.

The option for parents when paying/ordering on line will be “sandwich bar”



Please remember to bring your child’s book bag in to school everyday. Book bags are not only for taking books home, they are also really useful for keeping letters and other information safe so that you don’t miss out on any vital information. Books will start to be changed regularly on a Wednesday and a Friday so it’s especially important for book bags to be in on these days. If you don’t have a book bag, these can be purchased from the school office.

Thank you for your ongoing support with reading with your child, it is making such a massive difference to their progress in school.

Frosty walk

Dragonflies went on a freezing frosty walk this morning to explore the icy weather. We had a brilliant time investigating the icy playground and seeing how the frost turned everything sparkly and glittery. We practiced writing our names in the ice and even tried to write our phonics sound of the day too. We even found big pieces of ice in our water tray outside!

Strictly Maths Awards!


Today we celebrated the completion of the Strictly Maths Challenges in a whole school assembly and Councillor Girl Kirk from the local community came in to join us. She commented, ‘I am so proud of you all for having such enthusiasm for maths’, as well as speaking to the children about how maths is vital for their life in the future.

During the assembly, the children eagerly guessed the number of Strictly Maths Challenges that had been returned and were thrilled to find out that 90 children from Year 1 to 6 had achieved this, beating our previous total of 82! This soon increased to a staggering 92 booklets with two last-minute entries from Belinda and Melinda! A special mention should also be given to the enthusiastic mathematicians in Oak Class who brought back 78% of their booklets and for the children shown above who were selected as the ‘Mathematician of the Class’.

Once again we would like to send a big thank you to the parents who continue to support their children with learning at home, as well as those who attended today’s assembly!






Year Five’s week.

Many thanks to the wonderful students of Year Five. Everyone has been working hard and we have lots of great work to be proud of. We have written suspense stories and created diary entries this week in literacy and our cross curricular history lessons. In numeracy we have understood about cubed and squared numbers.


Our trip to Lacock was a huge success. The children were able to learn about photographic processes and how the invention of photography has been developed over time.



We also took photos for our art lessons next week.

The children were excited to visit the set of the Harry Potter films…


and compared their teacher to Professor Snape…

Mannequin challenge in year 4 and 5.

Hi parents and guardians! Would you like to watch our Mannequin Challenge video? We decided that we would show you  a snapshot of our learning in numeracy! Year 5 have been learning about squared and cubed numbers. The children have been using practical resources to help them understand. We have used excellent teamwork skills to encourage each other and we are making sure that we always have a positive attitude towards our work.

 In Year 4, it’s always busy in our classroom but it’s a fantastic learning environment that’s always buzzing with inquisitive minds getting ready to solve tricky questions.  The carpet is where we do our initial learning but then we’re off to either the “campfire” where we’ll sit with Miss Donoghue or Aida.  The “wolfpack” where we’ll sit with a partner and work together or the “cave” where we’ll work on our own in a very peaceful and quiet environment.  

 We hope that you will ask your child about their learning from today! Underneath the video are a few quotes from our children.
