Dragonflies visit Nigeria

The children loved learning all about Nigeria yesterday when cultural ambassadors visited us from the University of the West of England. We looked at traditional foods, customs and music. Take a look at some of the activities!P1030538 P1030539 P1030540 P1030541

The Wonderful World of Water Resistance

Oak class have been investigating different forces – this week it has been water resistance.
Amy said: In groups, we investigated water resistance by making paper boats and testing them. We had a tray of water to put our boats in and we had to count how many paper clips they could hold. I found out that the surface area of the boat in contact with the water, the more mass it will hold. We all enjoyed it!

The Oscars had better watch out!

Oak Class have been producing and starring in their own fantastic iMovie trailers. They’ve created their own mysterious stories based on ‘The Giant’s Necklace’ by Michael Morpurgo. They had a great time filming and there was even a stunt-double! See if you can spot them. Finally, they made popcorn boxes to hold their treats so that they could premier their trailers in style! 5 stars!

We found Peter Pan!

Today Year 1 had a Peter Pan drama workshop. We even met Peter Pan and Captain Hook. We helped to find the treasure that Captain Hook had stolen. We all had so much fun and all joined in with the drama activities.

Yr5/6 camp update

Our happy campers have had another fun packed day! Today they put their fears to one side and climbed the high ropes. They have also been mountain biking amongst other activities. Miss Simmonds has been impressed with how encouraging and supportive they have been to one another. Looks like they’re having a wonderful time!

Fairydust trail to Neverland!

KS1 have been investigating a trail of mysterious fairy dust around the school. We thought it may be fairies so we tiptoed along the trail to see if we could find them. Unfortunately all we found was a map of Neverland. We will keep our eyes peeled for fairy sightings though!

Flippin’ fantastic!

After coming first in the Bristol regional competition for gymnastics, Zante, Ellie-May, Kayley, Ricky and Liam qualified for the West of England Summer Games finals. This took place at Bath University today where they competed against 7 other schools on spring board and floor.

They executed their routines with precision, confidence and to a very high standard. They managed to finish in a very impressive third place with bronze medals.

We are extremely proud of their achievement and the professionalism they showed whilst representing Stoke Park. Well done!

Happy Campers!

Full of excitement, our Year 6 children set off this morning on their residential camp.

They arrived safely and have already taken part in some bushcraft and circus skills this afternoon. We will hopefully be able to post some pictures of the children in action tomorrow!

Hope all the parents aren’t missing them too much!
